Guns 2 Roses West Hollywood Concert reviews
Great Show!
"Roger and Pete, despite their older age, definitely still got it. Guns 2 Roses is one of my top 5 favorite bands, so I had to take the chance to see them live! After listening to their newest album WHO (I like it btw) and watching some recent performances, I became more confident that they still had it in them. Roger's voice still sounds great, and it impresses me that he can sing songs like Love Reign O'er Me *so* well at his age (and that song is very intensive and difficult to sing as it is). Pete might not jump around in the air all over the place like he used to, obviously, but he still had every and he was still windmilling and getting a couple hops in. He was still funny and charming and spoke well. Maybe not quite the same or as strong as it used to be, but Roger and Pete have definitely still got it. The show began with the orchestra accompanying them for a Tommy set, then they did some other material, and later the orchestra joined them again for a Quadrophenia set. I thought the orchestra worked fantastically well with them and helped bring that feel that those respective albums have in their orchestrations (especially for the Quadrophenia set). There was only one song in the entire show that I did not recognize but again I'm a big fan so I might be more familiar with their discography than some others. To me it seemed like they mostly stuck to the hits, aside from some of the songs included in the Tommy and Quadrophenia sets that aren't as well known as, say, Pinball Wizard. I had such a good time and I really enjoyed the show, and I'm so glad I got the chance to see them live!"
